The New Old Town
I was walking across the 23rd avenue and interstate 74 interchange in Moline as I remember doing in other dreams (especially ones that involve getting across the Mississippi without use of the bridge). In this dream, I continued on the avenue until I arrived at 16th street. It was there that I noticed I was with a friend and there was traffic that had to be considered. As I waited for a clearing to cross, I noticed major construction to familiar buildings around me. One had the front of massively and grandly improved to something resembling Romanesque front, with columns. As I looked down the street, I noticed the entire landscape was changed and it was then I realized that the city was going through massive improvements to make the city of Moline look more like it did around the turn of the century. The street was made narrower- although everything was being given a face-lift. I finally crossed the street only after noticing I was in the middle of an active construction area that more resembled a large raised vegetable garden.
